Reclaimed: Beyond the Braid Exclusive Screening

DIASPORA ReFramed is one of our signature event series where we redefine how Black culture is portrayed through film – spotlighting raw, abstract, and innovative stories infused with originality, artistry, and vibrancy. This month, we continue with an exclusive screening of the documentary: Reclaimed: Beyond the Braid by Rebundle at Hotel Casa de las Artes. A short film about reclaiming beauty through innovation, sustainability, and community. The movie will be in English with Spanish subtitles.

We will also have a panel discussing aesthetics and the health of afro hair as a symbol of afrocentric beauty. Panel guests include: Benia Nsi Ngua (cultural producer and artist) , Patricia Sotto (founder of Tizia Cosmetics), Ada Okenve Obiang (social psychologist, community organizer, and creator of Tobosi), and Galina Rodríguez (creator of "Memoria Hebral", braider, choreographer, and performer).
